FITCHBURG, MASSACHUSETTS, October 8, 2008 … Barbara L. Goodwin, president and CEO of Fitchburg Federal Credit Union, was among the 12 presenters at the City’s first Senior Summit held recently.

The Summit, organized by State Representative Stephen L. DiNatale, provided seniors with information about how to stay warm, healthy and safe this winter. In addition to Fitchburg Federal, participants included Fitchburg Fire Chief Kevin Roy and representatives from utilities; elder services, assistance, housing and food programs; and support agencies including United Way, Catholic Charities, and the Salvation Army.

Fitchburg Federal’s Barbara Goodwin told seniors about two programs designed to help meet the high cost of heating their homes: a low-interest HeatingHelp credit line used to pay utility bills and a special no-interest HEAT Loan to make homes more energy efficient, offered in conjunction with local utilities.

Goodwin urged seniors to turn to the Credit Union for help if they are troubled, whatever the issue. “That’s what we’re here for,” she explained. “I don’t care if it’s only $100 you need; come see us.”
