Fitchburg Federal Credit Union
hosts visiting Kenyan officials

FITCHBURG, MASSACHUSETTS, November 24, 2008 … Fitchburg Federal Credit Union recently welcomed representatives of the Kenya Union of Savings and Credit Co-operatives (KUSCCO) and three of its member credit unions. The nine individuals visited with Fitchburg Federal President Barbara Goodwin and her staff, where discussions included a review of common challenges and opportunities. The study group’s goal was to research best practices among credit unions in the United States. Their visit was organized by the World Council of Credit Unions.

The group’s goal was to research best practices among credit unions in the United States. Officials of the Massachusetts Credit Union League joined the group for its Fitchburg visit.

The Fitchburg site was one of four in the state selected as a destination for the Kenyan group by the Massachusetts Credit Union League. League President Dan Egan and Rob Kimmett, senior vice president of marketing and public relations, joined the group for the three-hour Fitchburg visit.

Founded in 1957, the Credit Union is located at 65 North Street in Fitchburg, with a student branch at Fitchburg High School and online banking services. Deposits are insured by the National Credit Union Administration (NCUA) and the Massachusetts Credit Union Share Insurance Corporation (MSIC).

Fitchburg Federal Credit Union membership is open to employees and retirees of the City of Fitchburg, Fitchburg State College, Montachusett Regional Vocational Technical School, Fitchburg Housing Authority, and LUK, Inc., and their family members. Membership is also open to students of Fitchburg Public Schools and their family members and to members of the Friends of Fitchburg Public Library and the Friends of Coggshall Park and their family members.
