Fitchburg Federal holds ‘Finance 101’ class for LUK, Inc.


FINANCE 101 – Fitchburg Federal Credit Union held a special financial literacy session for participants in LUK Inc.’s Transition to Independent Living Program (TIL Services) recently. Conducted by Barbara Goodwin, president and CEO, the workshop was designed to provide life skills training in the area of banking options and awareness. FITCHBURG, MASSACHUSETTS, April 16, 2008 … Fitchburg Federal Credit Union recently held a special financial literacy class (“Finance 101”) for participants in LUK Inc.’s Transition to Independent Living Program (TIL Services). The two-hour session was conducted by Barbara Goodwin, Credit Union president and CEO. It was held at the Credit Union’s new Community Room at its 65 North Main Street office in Fitchburg.

The Finance 101 session was designed to provide life skills training in the area of banking and money management. The basics included a review of checking, savings, lending and investment products; credit cards and debit cards; the difference between banks, credit unions and other financial services providers; the importance of credit scores; and identity theft.

The Credit Union is planning future sessions for TIL Services participants, according to Goodwin.

Fitchburg Federal Credit Union, founded in 1957, is located at 65 North Street in Fitchburg, with a Student Branch at Fitchburg High School and online banking services at fitchburgfederalcu.com.
