Amanda Valcourt wins
Fitchburg ME Credit Union scholarship essay contest
Valcourt will receive a $500 scholarship toward her studies at Fitchburg State College, where she will be a freshman in the fall, majoring in communications/media, with a concentration in photography. Student members of the Credit Union who are enrolled full-time at, or planning to attend, an accredited college or secondary school were invited to submit an original essay describing how today’s youth can help improve the quality of life in our community, now and in the future. Submissions were judged on style, content, grammar, and originality. Valcourt’s winning essay described the potential of today’s youth to unlock the “door of improvement,” and the powerful new perspective they can offer to influence the future of the community. Every action taken by today’s youth, she wrote, will leave a lasting imprint on the life of the community. A 2006 graduate of Fitchburg High School, Valcourt joined the staff of Fitchburg ME Federal Credit Union as a Member Service Representative in June of this year. She is the daughter of Ann and Walter Valcourt of Fitchburg. Fitchburg ME Federal Credit Union, founded in 1957, is located at 65 North Street in Fitchburg, with a Student Branch at Fitchburg High School and online banking services. Deposits are insured by the National Credit Union Administration (NCUA). |
