FITCHBURG, MASSACHUSETTS, April 16, 2008 … Fitchburg Federal Credit Union held its 51st Annual Meeting on April 8 at the credit union’s offices at 65 North Street in Fitchburg.

Barbara Goodwin, president and CEO, reported a 3% growth in assets over the prior year, and a 5% growth in membership, which is now approaching 3,300.

Goodwin also announced that the name of the credit union would be changing to Fitchburg Federal Credit Union going forward.

“The ME (municipal employees) in our name was confusing to people,” she explained. “We still love our municipal employees, but today our field of membership extends beyond that — now they can invite their friends and neighbors to join, too.”

Membership in the credit union is open to Fitchburg municipal employees and retirees; Fitchburg Public School students; employees of Fitchburg State College, Monty Tech, Fitchburg Housing Authority, and LUK, Inc.; and members of the Friends of Coggshall Park and the Friends of Fitchburg Public Library. Family members of all of these categories are also eligible to join.
