Donates to Boys & Girls Club

FITCHBURG, MASSACHUSETTS, July 18, 2006 … Haywood Hunter, area director of the Boys & Girls Club of North Central Massachusetts, recently accepted a donation in the amount of $250 from Barbara L. Goodwin, president and CEO of Fitchburg ME Federal Credit Union. The gift was made in support of Summer programs at the Club.

More than 300 children and young adults between the ages of 8 and 18 from the Fitchburg and Leominster area participate in programs and activities offered by the local Boys & Girls Club. The popular organization, a unit of the Boys & Girls Club of Worcester, offers youth development programs on the campus of Fitchburg State College and at The Veterans Center in Leominster.

Boys & Girls Clubs of America is the country’s largest youth service organization and the fastest growing youth agency in the world. Its mission is to inspire and enable all young people, especially those from disadvantaged circumstances, to realize their full potential as productive, responsible and caring citizens.

The Credit Union is also hoping to work with the Boys & Girls Club to present a series of “financial education” sessions for mothers and daughters in the fall, highlighting effective money management skills, including budgeting, saving, borrowing, and investing.

Fitchburg ME Federal Credit Union, founded in 1957, is located at 65 North Street in Fitchburg, with a Student Branch at Fitchburg High School and online banking services. Deposits are insured by the National Credit Union Administration (NCUA).
